Smoothbeam and VBeam Laser for Acne Treatment
Acne and acne scarring can be treated effectively with the use of light technology. The Smoothbeam and VBeam laser help treat mild to moderate acne and acne scarring. The Smoothbeam laser is a safe and effective way to treat moderate to severe acne and acne scars. The Smoothbeam is a non-ablative laser system that operates on the 1450 nm wavelength and allows us to provide treatments with little to no downtime and without damage to the surface of the skin. The laser does this by creating a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into the skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat. Meanwhile, the Dynamic Cooling Device protects the upper layers of your skin with a cooling burst of cryogen.
The Smoothbeam laser can improve the look and feel of most scars by stimulating collagen production in the deep layers of your skin. Multiple treatments are recommended for optimum results. Most patients notice improvement 6 – 8 weeks after their first treatment. Treatment time depends on the size and severity of the acne and acne scar. The Smoothbeam laser will not completely remove acne or acne scars.
The VBeam is a pulsed dye laser. The laser is delivered in pulses and a dye is used to generate laser beams. The laser can improve the look and feel of most scars by stimulating collagen production in the deep layers of the skin. The VBeam also incorporates the Dynamic Cooling Device that helps cool the skin before the laser beam is activated on the skin.
The combination of VBeam and the Smoothbeam lasers are commonly used during the same session to improve acne scars. Typically patients require 3-5 treatments for optimum results. There is minimal discomfort and downtime. Side effects for laser treatments include: hyperpigmentation, scarring, redness, swelling, welts or blisters. These usually resolve within 1-2 weeks after treatment.
