Juvéderm® is a hyaluronic acid in an injectable form used to fill in facial lines and wrinkles and enhance the lips. The hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that dissipates gradually with age. Juvéderm is the only hyaluronic acid dermal filler developed using an advanced manufacturing process resulting in a malleable gel that flows easily into the skin and creates a smooth, natural look and feel. All other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers currently on the market, including Restylane are granular consistency gels which are more likely to create lumps. Juvéderm is a replacement source that helps maintain the hydration of tissues.

Treatment

One week prior to treatment, we ask that you refrain from taking aspirin or any anti-inflammatories. Treatment is short, simple and non-surgical. A designated amount of Juvéderm is injected into the treatment area after using a local anesthetic if desired. The procedure is quick and easy. The injection itself usually takes only about 15 minutes.

Recovery

There are minimal side effects associated with Juvéderm injections; however, some patients might experience slight swelling of the treatment area. Patients may also see some redness, swelling, lumps, bruising, itching or discoloration at the injection site that typically won’t last more than seven days. In the hours following treatment, we recommend that you avoid making excessive facial expressions. Makeup can be used the following day. For the next two weeks, you should limit your exposure to sunlight or excessive heat from saunas and avoid touching or massage the treated area. Results may last 6-9 months depending on the injection site.

How it works

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC
is tailored to add subtle volume to the lips and smooth the appearance of vertical lip lines.

uvederm Volbella: The Latest Addition to the Juvederm Family of Fillers

Juvederm Volbella, a dermal filler from the Juvederm family of products by Allergan, a leader in the world of aesthetic injectables, is one of the latest injectable lip augmentation solutions to be approved by the FDA. Made available for use in the U.S. in October 2016, Juvederm Volbella is transforming the way in which we enhance our lips. This specially formulated dermal filler is designed to add fullness to the lips, improve lip symmetry, and reduce the signs of aging around the mouth.

Thanks to its smooth gel-like consistency, Juvederm Volbella can also effectively contour the lips to transform their shape and overall appearance. Featuring a proprietary form of hyaluronic acid, a sugar that occurs naturally in the body, Juvederm Volbella also utilizes Allergan’s proprietary Vycross technology for enhanced longevity and more natural results. A versatile and effective injectable, this filler also contains a small amount of lidocaine to minimize the minor discomforts sometimes associated with treatment.

Juvederm Volbella can:

  • Add fullness and plumpness to the lips

  • Produce results that last for up to a year

  • Provide gentle contouring for the correction of lip asymmetry

  • Soften the appearance of fine lines that often appear around the mouth as we age

  • Produce natural-looking results that are so subtle that no one needs to know that you had the procedure in the first place

Juvederm Volbella is intended for adults who are age 21 and over. Allergan conducted extensive clinical trials to test the safety and effectiveness of this filler, and the results showed that the safety of this product was about the same as that of the control group. These results mean that Juvederm Volbella is considered to be safe for most people to use.

However, certain people should not use Juvederm Volbella. Specifically, those who have severe allergies, including a history of anaphylaxis, are advised to not use this product. Additionally, if you are allergic to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins, you should not receive Juvederm Volbella treatments.

Otherwise, if you are unhappy with the appearance or feel of your lips and are ready to do something about it, you are an ideal candidate for Juvederm Volbella and similar fillers.

Additionally, if you have lines around your mouth that you would like corrected, or if you are unsatisfied with the shape or general appearance of your lips, Juvederm Volbella may be the right option for you.

Juvederm Q&A

What is Juvederm XC?

Juvederm XC is a smooth gel facial filler. Comprised of Hyaluronic Acid, Juvederm can be used to instantly eliminate static wrinkles and add facial volume.

How does Juvederm XC work?

Juvederm contains Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a vital building block of healthy, hydrated skin. As you age, HA naturally decreases, causing the skin to lose structure and volume. Juvederm replaces the HA, adding immediate fullness under the skin, and restoring a youthful appearance.

What is the difference between static and dynamic wrinkles?

Juvederm is used to replace lost facial volume and improve the look of static wrinkles: those that occur due to a loss of skin elasticity. Dynamic wrinkles, caused by repetitive muscle movements, are best treated with Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, or Xeomin.

What areas can be treated with Juvederm?

Juvederm can eliminate Nasolabial Folds (from nose to edges of the mouth) and Marionette Lines (at the corners of the mouth), as well as add volume to the cheeks and jawline.

Who is the ideal candidate for a treatment with Juvederm?

Anyone who is looking to improve the wrinkles, fine lines and loss of facial volume that occur with aging may make a great candidate for Juvederm. Juvederm is safe for all skin types and ethnicities. Ideal patients will be in overall good health and will hold reasonable expectations for their results.

Where will my Juvederm treatment be performed?

All Juvederm injections are performed in the Orange Coast Dermatology's comfortable, private Rancho Santa Margarita office.

Are Juvederm injections painful?

Juvederm XC contains Lidocaine, assuring the injections are not painful. However, anesthetic choices are available to increase patient comfort during the treatment.

Will anesthesia be used before my Juvederm treatment?

For added patient comfort, Orange Coast Dermatology may utilize a topical or local anesthetic prior to administering the Juvederm injections.

How is a Juvederm procedure performed?

Juvederm is injected directly into the target area, using a very small needle. If an additional anesthetic will be used, this will be applied about 20-30 minutes prior to treatment.

How long is a Juvederm treatment?

A Juvederm session will normally take less than 30 minutes to complete.

What can I expect from the recovery period, after Juvederm injections?

After a Juvederm procedure, mild redness, swelling, and bruising may occur at the injection site. These will diminish quickly, however. There is no downtime needed after Juvederm injections, so patients can immediately resume their daily activities.

When can I expect to see results from my Juvederm injections?

You will see the results from a Juvederm treatment immediately. The benefits of the injections will continue to improve over the next two to three weeks, as any swelling or bruising subsides.

When can I return to work, after my Juvederm injections?

There is no downtime necessary after Juvederm injections. Patients are able to return to work or school the same afternoon.

How long will the results from Juvederm injections last?

Juvederm is the longest lasting Hyaluronic Acid filler on the market today. The results from one treatment can last from six to twenty-four months, or potentially longer. This will depend on the area being treated and the level of correction needed.

What are the possible risks from Juvederm XC?

Juvederm injections are considered extremely safe. Side effects can include minor bruising, redness, and swelling at the injection site. On a rare occasion, an allergic reaction to the bacterial proteins in Juvederm may occur.

Who should NOT receive Juvederm injections?

Patients with a history of allergic reactions to bacterial proteins, or Hyaluronic Acid fillers, should not have Juvederm injections. Those with poor health or certain medical conditions should also refrain from the treatment. These factors will be discussed in depth at your consultation appointment.

Is Juvederm affordable?

Juvederm is reasonably priced and can be afforded on any budget. The results from Juvederm can last up to a year, or longer, making the injectable one of the most cost-effective aesthetic treatments available today.
